Culloden Battlefield Visitor Centre opens
The new £9m visitor centre at Culloden Battlefield has opened to the public near Inverness in Scotland.
The facility features an exhibition and interpretation space as well as a flexible arts and conference area, shop and café.
According to a spokesperson, sound plays a key part in the exhibition with Gaelic as the dominant source language.
The audio visual content will use the original words, song and music of the men and women who played their part in the fateful events and will be delivered in the Gaelic spoken at the time of the battle.
According to hospitality consultancy company RGA, which carried out a feasibility study, the visitor experience will attract more than 70,000 tourists each year.
The visitor centre was designed by architect Gareth Hoskins with Ralph Abbelbaum Associates providing the exhibition designs.
