DC Leisure staff complete NPLQ course
Seventeen staff from DC Leisure have successfully completed their first National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) at the K2 leisure centre in Crawley.
The five-day intensive NPLQ Unit 1 Trainer Assessor course teaches attendees how to carry out in-house training, so that individual leisure centres can recruit and instruct their own lifeguards.
Alex Blackwell, group lifeguarding manager at DC Leisure, said: “Increasing the number of lifeguard trainers helps us to meet the obligations detailed in the HSE publication Managing Health and Safety in Swimming Pools and demonstrates our commitment to ensuring the highest standards of health and safety across all our swimming pools.
“Due to its success, we will shortly be launching a programme of these courses available to external candidates within the industry.”
DC Leisure employs more than 2,000 lifeguards in 68 swimming pools.
