D+D London expands to Japan
D&D London is rolling out its first restaurants in Tokyo, Japan.
The new Botanica and Iconic restaurants, as well as the Noodle Workshop, have been developed in partnership with Japanese restaurant group Hiramatsu.
Botanica, based in the new Tokyo Midtown building, opened to the public on 30 March. It offers European dishes such as gazpacho, Rabbit rillettes and roast sirloin of beef.
The Noodle Workshop, also located in the Tokyo Midtown building, will offer hot and cold noodle dishes, salads and pastries to take away or eat on the premises.
Iconic, situated on the 9th floor of a building overlooking the Ginza district, will open on 19 April. It will comprise four areas – a restaurant, Plaza Bar, function room and private dining rooms.
The restaurant will offer European food, including British classics, while the Plaza Bar will provide a lunch service before becoming a bistro with a champagne bar at night.
Des Gunewardena, CEO of D&D said: “These projects have been in development for a number of years and it is very exciting to see them come to fruition. Working with Hiramatsu has enabled us to create restaurants which we think are sympathetic to the Japanese market, while at the same time injecting something quite different into the Toyko restaurant scene.”
Conran & Partners designed all three outlets, with personal input from Terence Conran. Keiko Yoshiya created Botanica’s garden terrace.
D&D plans to open eight to ten D&D London restaurants in Japan over the next few years, in partnership with Hiramatsu. Details: www.danddlondon.com
