DLL planning multi-million pound site in Aberdeen
Aberdeen City Council has received a new planning application from David Lloyd Leisure (DLL) and developers the Stewart Milne Group for a multi-million pound sports and fitness centre.
The site covers 3.8 hectares and would be a racquets and fitness centre with four outside tennis courts plus indoor courts, a swimming pool, sports halls and fitness rooms.
DLL's last application for the centre at Garthdee Road was refused by the planning committee. The new plans include a number of changes such as a revised road layout, carparking and landscaping.
Agents for the application are Turley Associates Limited while planning officers will bring forward a report to the city council regarding the application by early 2004.
Property director of DLL, David Penniston, said: “We believe that Aberdeen represents an excellent opportunity for a David Lloyd Leisure club to be built, and we are very excited about the site and the facilities we are proposing. Our application for Aberdeen is in line with our plan to have 100 clubs by 2010. We already have two highly successful clubs in Scotland and we are exploring a number of other opportunities in Scotland.” Details: www.aberdeencity.gov.uk
