DLL to make the move into continental Europe
David Lloyd Leisure (DLL) has announced plans to open its first health and racquets club in continental Europe.
The group, which already has 54 clubs in the UK and one in Dublin, has confirmed it is to open a club in Brussels in late 2004.
The new build site, which will be around 10,000sq m, will follow a similar format to DLL clubs in the UK. Facilities will include 25m indoor and outdoor pools, a kids pool and a spa pool, five indoor and six outdoor tennis courts, two aerobics studio and a 900sq m gym plus a restaurant and bar.
Further rollout into continental Europe has yet to be confirmed. Managing director Stewart Miller said: “Over the last year, we have been trying to make sure we really understand the markets in individual countries in continental Europe. At the moment, we would prefer to focus on one geographical area.”
The group also has plans to rollout 100 clubs in the UK, at a rate of around five or six per year.
