Darlington to get new performance venue?
Darlington Borough Council (DBC) has outlined plans to close an existing arts facility and build a new performance venue for the town as part of its budget proposals for 2012-13.
Local residents are being invited to comment on the draft budget, which includes a proposal to close Darlington Arts Centre and use the proceeds from the sale towards a new venue.
Meanwhile, DBC has also confirmed that it has removed the threat of closure from the Civic Theatre after a new management and funding model was drawn up for the venue.
A number of events will take place during December and January to allow local residents to have their say, with the final budget to be considered by full council on 1 March 2012.
