Dartmoor unveils funding resource
The Dartmoor National Park Authority has announced that it will make a new source of funding available to help local people and organisations look after the park.
With the total amount funding available in 2009/10 at £36,000, the authority will make the money available for small one-off projects that fall under four headings - natural environment, cultural heritage, community projects and promoting the understanding and enjoyment of Dartmoor.
Examples of projects that have been funded in the past include providing disabled access at Dunsford Church, tree surgery at Buckfastleigh and supporting the Dartmoor Literature Festival at Tavistock.
Sue Goodfellow, director of park management, said: "We hope the Dartmoor grant will really help people to make a difference to Dartmoor and its residents and visitors. It's intended to be grassroots money and can be used to kick-start projects or for specific pieces of work."
