David Lloyd opens 60th lifeguard training centre
David Lloyd Leisure (DLL) is now the Institute of Qualified Lifeguards UK (IQL UK) largest lifeguard training provider, following the opening of its 60th health and leisure club – David Lloyd Kings Hill in Maidstone, Kent.
IQL UK manages the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) and has a network of 2,000 Approved Training Centres (ATCs).
DLL was awarded ATC status by IQL in 2000.
Each month, more than 500 lifeguards receive on-going training at David Lloyd ATCs, which have nearly 100 training pools in total.
Jason Rudley, programme manager for IQL UK, said: “If someone wants to take their NPLQ, they need to do that through an approved training centre.
“ATCs are a way of making sure that the NPLQ is delivered and managed according to high quality and robust standards.”
More than 33,000 people enter the NPLQ every year. Details: www.lifesavers.org.uk
