David Lloyd to recruit over 500 new gym instructors
David Lloyd Leisure is to recruit over 500 new gym instructors over the next three years - many from outside the gyms sector - as part of an 'assault' on the UK's growing personal fitness training market.
Each successful applicant who passes through 'Campus', the company's academy, will receive a David Lloyd qualification, aligned to the government's NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) system. Stewart Miller, managing director, said: 'We will be giving our members a David Lloyd Leisure promise of quality in fitness training, to help us to drive incremental sales revenue and increase customer loyalty and hence retention.'
The new qualification is backed by the National Academy of Sports Medicine and David Lloyd Leisure is also working with SPRITO to gain NVQ recognition. The three-tiered scheme is also aligned to the national Register of Exercise Professionals (REP), which regulates the personal training market.
Employees' training costs will be paid by David Lloyd in return for a loyalty pledge. A second campus will be opened in west London in next summer. Details: www.davidlloydleisure.co.uk
