Richard Davies has been promoted to leisure and activities manager at The Celtic Manor Resort, near Newport, but plans to keep up with the member relationships he has built during his eight years at the resort.

'I think it is important to be hands-on and maintain close contact with those who use the resort's facilities,' he says. 'It's the personal touch that matters. In my new role my mission will be to meet members needs by setting up a series of focus groups to gain and respond to as much feedback as possible.' Davies, who holds an HNC in sports science, regularly competes in triathlons. He also devised the annual Chairman's Challenge series of races, which has raised thousands of pounds for charity.
