Netherlands-based De Boer Structures has transformed a former multi-storey car park in Brixton, south London, with its first semi-permanent ice skating arena.

The company's commercial division has developed the new bespoke 2,500sq m (26,910sq ft) structure, which took five months to build and features an international-standard ice bed.

Changing facilities; office space; a reception; a café; and storage and maintenance areas also form part of the building, with its day-to-day operation being handled by Planet Ice.

Ice World International is providing the ice bed at the new arena, which has been developed while Lambeth Council's permanent ice rink in nearby Streatham undergoes a major revamp.

De Boer sales director - commercial Robert Alvarez said: "This project is yet another example of the flexibility of our semi-permanent structures which can accommodate a multitude of uses.

"The building is a bespoke design complete with high-tech cladding and insulation to ensure sound proofing and the all-important temperature control systems."
