December debut for luxury Mexican spa
The latest Auriga spa, at the Capella Pedregal resort in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, will open in December 2008.
Located in the heart of the resort, the 10,000sq ft (929sq m) spa will have both indoor and outdoor treatment areas.
Auriga Spa will offer 10 treatment suites, including two deluxe suites with individual watsu pools. Other facilities will include a salt-water spa pool with Pacific Ocean views, lounges, a sauna and a steamroom.
There will also be a healers’ cottage on top of the mountain, built in the local style, where guests can consult an authentic ‘curandero’, or traditional folk healer. Yoga, meditation and massages will also be offered on the beach.
Spa consultant Sylvia Sepielli has been assigned to bring a Bajan feel to the Auriga experience, reflecting the Mexican healing tradition called ‘curanderismo’. Traditional herbs will be used in treatments, as well as in the food, teas and tonics at the resort.
Further Auriga spas are planned to open in Mexico and Singapore by the beginning of 2009. (See Spa Business news 08/04. To order, visit spabusiness.com)
