Deeside Leisure Centre scheme moves forward
Flintshire County Council (FCC) has approved Phase Three of a major multi-million pound redevelopment of Deeside Leisure Centre in Queensferry, North Wales.
The council is working in partnership with Alliance Leisure on the project, which has already delivered six new five-a-side football pitches in the first stage - completed last November. Phase Two - including new fitness, health and spa facilities - is due to begin in March and is to be completed by the end of the year.
Under plans for the third stage, the venue's original ice rink - now called the Arena - will be transformed into a new extreme sports facility. A 1,452sq m (15,629sq ft) indoor wooden ramp area for skateboarders, skaters and BMXers; a high ropes course; a climbing tower; and a bouldering facility are planned.
It is hoped that work can get underway on Phase Three in April, with a view to completion by October.
