Designs unveiled for new Aspen Art Museum
Designs for a new Aspen Art Museum in Colorado, US, have been unveiled.
The 30,000sq ft new building, designed by architect Shigeru Ban, would boast 12,500sq ft of exhibition space and a public roof deck sculpture garden.
The proposed museum is designed “upside-down,” so that commercial spaces (like the bookstore and café) are on the top level, and the street level hosts the art collections.
The museum already has US$28.5m in existing pledges, and is continuing its fundraising efforts.
Aspen City Council is expected to return a verdict on the land acquisition next month.
