Dorset outdoor activities centre reopens
An outdoor activities centre near Bournemouth, Dorset - taken over by Brockenhurst College in September 2009 - has reopened to the public.
More than £50,000 has been spent on improving Hengistbury Head Outdoor Education Centre, which now boasts three classrooms, two pontoons, 11 moorings, changing facilities and disabled access. The college is poised to invest a total of £100,000 on upgrading and repairing the facility as part of a 25-year lease agreement with local authority, Bournemouth Borough Council.
Activities on offer at the centre include Canadian canoeing courses, Royal Yachting Association sailing qualifications, powerboating and rock climbing, as well as rowing and archery. Brockenhurst College principal Di Roberts said: "We have increased the sporting activities available to the public, renovated walkways to enable inclusion for those with disabilities and made many further enhancements to the centre itself."
