Drogheda gets go-ahead
An 80,000sq m (860,000sq ft) mixed use Southbank scheme in Drogheda, Ireland has received planning permission.
Located around 25 miles north of Dublin, the proposal was designed by Douglas Wallace Architects for property group Edward Holdings.
The development will contain an 81-bedroom hotel, a spa, restaurants, bars, cafés and an eight-screen cinema alongside a vehicular and pedestrian bridge to connect the north and south sides of Drogheda.
However, modifications were made to the original plan, with proposals to construct a 13-storey and a 27-storey tower – which would have been one of the tallest buildings in Ireland – removed. Details: www.edwardholdings.com
