Dry facilities open at Bridgwater leisure centre
The dry facilities at Trinity Sports and Leisure Centre in Bridgwater, Somerset have opened to the public.
The opening of the new centre, which is managed by the sports and leisure trust 1610 on behalf of Futures for Somerset, represents the first phase of a major leisure complex for Bridgwater which is part of Somerset County Council's and Bridgwater Education Trust £24m Building Schools for the Future project.
The new centre includes a sports hall with courts for badminton, football, basketball and volleyball, a 50-station Technogym-equipped fitness suite and exercise studio. The fitness gym will be IFI accredited providing equipment for people with disabilities.
The launch marks the completion of the first phase of the £6.3m facilitiy. A 25m, six-lane pool; a training pool; changing rooms and spectator seating will open in 2013.
Scott Brownrigg Architects have designed the project, which also involves Sedgemoor District Council (SDC), Somerset County Council (SCC), Chilton Trinity Technology College and Bridgwater Education Trust.
