Dublin museum wins European award
Chester Beatty Library in Dublin has been awarded the European Museum of the Year 2002 award by the European Museum Forum, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.
The judges said the Library which is located next to Dublin Castle, had achieved its aim to attract a very wide audience with its elegant and evocative displays. It particularly commended the Library's collection of the history of region in Ireland.
The awards recognise the achievements of museums established within the past two years and those that have been recently completely reorganised. It visits up to 60 museum applicants a year to judge, encourage and advise. Details: +44 (0)117 923 8897
