Aquaterra were thrilled to welcome Duncan Goodhew, Olympic breaststroke gold medalist and bronze medalist in the 4×100 m medley at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow back to Highbury Pool and Fitness Centre to host the Swimathon blogger master class event on 13th March.

Duncan who went on to win subsequent bronze medals in the 4×100 m medley at the World and European Championships is a true sporting hero who is recognised not only for his sporting achievements but also for the extraordinary support he has given to various charities. He is also renowned for his motivational and inspiring speaking events.

Swimmers in Islington will dive into the world's biggest fundraising swim at three Aquaterra pools between 26 – 28 April as they take on a Swimathon challenge in an effort to raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care. Archway Leisure Centre, Cally Pool and Highbury Pool and Fitness Centre will all be participating.

Duncan Goodhew, President of Swimathon said:

"A big thanks to all the team at Highbury Pool for the great work they are doing in support of and delivering Swimathon, which is helping to improve the quality of peoples' lives and their fitness levels."

Glenn Branch, General Manager at Highbury Pool and Fitness Centre said: "We were absolutely delighted to have Duncan return and host this high profile event as he is a fantastic ambassador for the sport of swimming. During the event he complimented the team at Highbury Pool, shared his passion and enthusiasm for swimming and had photos taken with the bloggers."
