Durham landscape scheme secures funding
Plans to preserve and protect the Durham Magnesian Limestone landscape have secured a £1.9m grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).
A triangular area of land between Hartlepool, South Shields and Newton Aycliffe will be the focus of the HLF investment. Proposals include the restoration and conservation of a number of properties, as well as a series of education and community events inspired by the landscape's heritage.
The plans are being led by five local authorities and environmental agencies.
