Dursley pool to remain in council hands
Stroud District Council (SDC) will continue to run a swimming pool in Dursley, Gloucestershire, after the facility was removed from a tender process.
The council will seek an operator for Stratford Park Leisure Centre in Stroud in a bid to reduce expenditure, but has decided not to include Dursley Swimming Pool. Keith Pearson, cabinet member in charge of leisure services at SDC, said: "It is true to say there were some financial savings to be had, however these savings would have come mainly from the contractor making savings in the staffing levels and rates of pay of staff.
"I believe the risk to the level of service at Dursley Pool, for what would be a poorer service, outweighs any decision to tender to an outside company."
