ECB backs new national sustainability agency
A national sustainability organisation aimed specifically at the UK's sport sector, which will launch on 24 October, has been backed by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
The British Association for Sustainability in Sport (BASiS) will bring together clubs, venues and governing bodies to act as a central hub for sustainability information and education. A range of practitioners from the sports industry will comprise the new association, with the sports currently involved including cricket, football, horse racing, golf, rugby and triathlon.
BASiS will also unveil the results of a survey examining attitudes towards sustainability at its launch, which will take place at Arsenal Football Club's Emirates Stadium in London. Dr Russell Seymour, chair of BASiS and sustainability manager at Marylebone Cricket Club, said: "We are delighted to be launching such an important association.
"The time seems right to develop an association of practitioners who can help mould the future of sustainability in the UK sport sector."
