EHB launches new Rush Hockey format
England Hockey Board (EHB) has announced the launch of the new Rush Hockey format in a bid to engage with thousands of recreational players across the country.
Designed to capitalise on an anticipated surge in interest around the 2012 Games, the Rush Hockey concept aims to replicate the success of the five-a-side format in football.
Rush Hockey can be played either indoors or outdoors and in four- or five-a-side matches, with the EHB now seeking to sign up new delivery partners to help roll out the format.
EHB is working with DC Leisure, Parkwood Leisure, Powerleague, Surrey Sports Park and higher education institutions, with 300 taster sessions taking place by the end of the year.
"Players will experience the thrill of competitive play, team camaraderie and physical activity whenever and wherever they want," said EHB development director Holly Woodford.
