Eastern Taiwan launches first 'bike' hotel
The Formosan Naruwan hotel in Taiting, Taiwan has become the first hotel in the east of the country to cater especially for tourists on two wheels.
The property has converted a former employee block into 80 new suites, half of which - on the fourth and fifth floors - have been specifically allocated for cyclists. They feature in-room bike racks for added security, are conveniently located near a cycle lane encircling the city and are accessed by bike-friendly lifts. A special area in front of the hotel has been provided on which riders can wash their mounts and pump up their tyres. The new hotel complements Asia's first ever bike hotel, which opened in southern Taiwan in early 2009. The Yoho Bike Hotel in Kenting offers features such as an exclusive check-in counter designed to keep bikers' feet off the ground; spacious lifts; special biker family rooms featuring in-room bike hangers; a bike spa and maintenance shop; and an outdoor bike training track and off-road training courses.
