Edge Hill University sports plans submitted
Plans for the extension of Edge Hill University's campus in Ormskirk - including a £30m sports complex - have ben submitted by Manchester-based consultants Turley Associates.
Facilities at the new complex will include an eight-court indoor sports hall and a 25m pool, along with part-floodlit natural and synthetic pitches, a games court and an athletics track. The proposals - submitted to West Lancashire Borough Council - aim to allow Edge Hill University to carry out infrastructure improvements to serve the new sports complex.
It is expected that a decision on whether to approve the scheme will be made by the council in early autumn, with work scheduled to commence on site in 2012. David Diggle, associate director at Turley Associates, said: "This application is made following a two year consultation with key stakeholders and the local community and will continue to ensure the university remains one of the best in the region."
