Eureka! A special science training day at children’s museum
Eureka, the Halifax-based children’s interactive museum, will be holding a special, training day for museum professionals on 18 September.
The day – which has sold out – is entitled Scared of Science and is part of an ongoing project called Creative Minds, aiming to provide and share new ideas based on the delivery of science-based interactive learning to over 40 attendees.
The Creative Minds project was launched by the Eureka museum in early 2003 following confirmation of a grant from Yorkshire Forward to establish Eureka as a centre of excellence. The project’s intention is to establish Eureka as a model of practice by providing opportunities for other centres to learn and benefit from the site's expertise.
The Creative Minds project will run over a three-year period at the children’s musem and will bring more extensive science, technology, engineering and maths themes into its existing hands-on areas.
The project also runs in conjunction with Eureka’s continuing six-year development plan, while further training and technique events are due to take place later in 2003. Details: www.eureka.org.uk
