EuropeActive has joined the All Policies for a Healthy Europe (APHE) initiative, as part of its strategy to increasingly engage with EU health policymaking.

Launched in 2018, APHE is an intersectoral initiative that brings together a diverse group of NGOs, think tanks, associations, companies, and individuals.

Its mission is to position the health and wellbeing of citizens at the heart of EU policymaking.

APHE's main two policy calls are for the European Commission to establish an "EU Charter on Wellbeing" and for it to create an "Observatory of Wellbeing".

In its mission statement, APHE says the charter would be used to introduce common wellbeing principles to effectively assess the impact of EU policies on the quality of citizens’ lives in all fields – and with a long-term perspective.

It also wants the observatory to be used to develop a "horizontal approach based on cross-sectoral collaboration between different policy areas".

In a statement, EuropeActive said: "EuropeActive looks forward to working with the other knowledge partners of the All Policies for a Healthy Europe initiative to make sure that policy and decision makers in Brussels fully recognise physical activity promotion as an essential part of the EU's disease prevention and health promotion policies."
