Everybody Health and Leisure awarded council contract for health and wellbeing services
Independent charity, Everybody Health and Leisure, has been awarded the delivery of the One You programme across Cheshire East for an initial three-year period from November.
One You is a funded service for Cheshire East residents, offering support with weight management, smoking cessation, falls prevention and physical activity programmes. It has been running for seven years and was previously offered by Reed Wellbeing.
Everybody will be offering interventions in the community, with the intention to be accessible to everyone in Cheshire East, so delivery will be in a variety of settings and venues to suit participants. Otago falls prevention classes will also be available in person and remotely.
Thomas Barton, CEO of Everybody, says: “We are absolutely thrilled to be working in partnership with Cheshire East Council to deliver the One You programme. This service shows the council is prioritising the health and wellbeing of residents in the face of significant financial constraints. We are delighted to be able to use our considerable expertise and great passion for health and wellbeing to extend these programmes to our local communities.”
Helen Charlesworth-May, executive director for adults, health and integration at Cheshire East Council, says: “Everybody’s proven track record in providing accessible and effective health and wellness services aligns perfectly with our commitment to improving the lives of our residents."
Everybody Health and Leisure operates 16 leisure centres and nine swimming pools across the borough, as well as running a host of community-focused projects and events. It will be using its network of referral channels to allow health and social care professionals to direct prospective One You course participants to the service.
