Expansion planned for CMG/Silhouette
Club Med Gym (CMG) and Silhouette Fitness are poised for further growth across Europe, according to the chief executive officer of the newly-combined business, Franck Gueguen.
Speaking to Health Club Management magazine (July 2011), Gueguen revealed that the first two new Silhouette-branded clubs are to open in Switzerland in the coming years. Meanwhile, the next CMG club will open in the first quarter of 2012 in Place de la Bastille, Paris, with other European markets being considered as part of plans to grow the business.
Gueguen said: "We're looking to expand in large European cities and Silhouette is active in large cities. Together, we now operate 45 clubs in three countries [France, Switzerland and Belgium]. "The two companies will focus on strengthening their leadership position in France and Switzerland through the opening of new clubs."
Gueguen also revealed that the Silhouette brand will be retained despite April's acquisition by 21 Centrale Partners. "We're keeping the Silhouette brand because it's so well known," he said. "I can't disclose much else yet, but our first step will be to enhance the client experience."
