Explosion! museum to be saved?
Final negotiations are taking place in an attempt to save the Explosion! Museum of Naval Firepower, located on the Gosport side of Portsmouth Harbour in Hampshire, from closure.
Portsmouth Naval Base Property Trust - the organisation that owns Portsmouth Historic Dockyard on lease from the Ministry of Defence and runs three of the site attractions - is concluding final negotiations with Gosport Borough Council on the acquisition of Priddy's Hard, the former Royal Navy ordnance depot and the Explosion! museum.
Peter Goodship, chief executive of the Property Trust, said: "We hope that by saving Explosion! from closure we can realise our ambition of reuniting the two sides of the harbour as originally intended by the Renaissance of Portsmouth Harbour scheme."
