Extension planned for Dartmoor Way
Devon Renaissance has been commissioned by the Dartmoor National Park Authority Partnership to look into the feasibility of extending the Dartmoor Way recreational routes into the southern moor.
Currently the Dartmoor Way consists of two circular routes around Dartmoor National Park, one for cyclists and one for walkers. They cover around 100 miles each and link Tavistock, Okehampton, Moretonhampstead, Bovey Tracey, Ashburton and Buckfastleigh, as well as the villages in between. The proposed extension - along with improved signage and associated promotion both locally and nationally - would see them incorporating South Brent, Ivybridge and Plymouth.
The study is being funded by Greater Dartmoor LEAF (which is part financed by the European Agricultural Fund for European Development 2007-2013: Europe investing in rural areas), the Dartmoor Sustainable Development Fund and Ramblers. Image: Herby
