FIA Code of Practice backs REPs
The Fitness Industry Association (FIA) has made Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) registration for all exercise professionals working at health clubs and leisure centres a condition of its Code of Practice.
The revised Code states that any instructor working in an FIA member centre, whether they are freelance or staff, must have current REPs membership by the end of 2009.
REPs registrar Cliff Collins said: “We are delighted that the FIA has given the Register such a public show of support.”
The FIA’s Code of Practice was originally developed to help health clubs and leisure centres determine their Health and Safety strategy.
From January 2009 it will be compulsory for all existing and new members to be audited against the new code as a standard procedure.
