FIA appoints official data collection agency

The FIA has appointed the Leisure Database Company as its official data collection agency.

The partnership represents the formalisation of an established working relationship between the two organisations, which has sought to benefit the health and fitness industry by providing accurate and consistent data to government, media, financiers and the industry itself.

Nigel Wallace, executive director of the FIA, said: “The FIA has previously conducted its own research into contemporary issues and often produced statistics relating to industry growth.

“However, while there has been a high level of consistency, we feel that using one identifiable source offers a more sensitive approach to detecting and tracking change.”

David Minton, director of the Leisure Database Company, said: “This official partnership will allow us to develop intelligence to continue raising the industry’s profile and will also be an important tool for investment and operational decisions.”

The Leisure Database Company, in conjunction with the FIA and Health Club Management, will publish the only annual State of the Industry Report. This will be available in January 2004.
