Facelift planned for Winchester leisure centre
River Park Leisure Centre in Winchester, Hampshire, is to undergo a GBP500,000 programme of repairs as part of the local authority's spending plans for 2011-12 to 2014-15.
Winchester City Council's (WCC) capital programme has allocated the funding for a series of "essential repairs" to the facility, following approval by cabinet members last month.
The capital programme has also outlined a potential GBP4.2m investment in further work at the River Park Leisure Centre, while a new-build replacement hasn't been ruled out.
A WCC report said a study into future options for the centre had been started "in order to allow a comparison between costs and expected longevity of any repair work against the possible joint provision with partners of a new leisure centre".
