Facelift plans for Swansea waterside
Swansea Council has unveiled plans to provide improved cycling and walking facilities as part of a scheme to improve a section of the city's River Tawe waterside.
The project, which will be jointly funded by the council and the Welsh Assembly Government, will also include new surfacing, lighting and street furniture in a bid to complement a series of recent riverside improvements. Plans to upgrade the section of the Tawe's west bank between Sainsbury's supermarket and Swansea Yacht Club follows the city's designation as a Strategic Regeneration Area and will help improve links between the city centre and the waterfront.
Gareth Sullivan, Swansea Council's cabinet member for economic and strategic development, said: "This planning application, if authorised by cabinet, could lead to an upgraded recreational facility that both residents and visitors to the city will enjoy. "This is one piece of a jigsaw that will combine to help Swansea become a European city of distinction by 2020."
