Through field tours and talks with local producers, they offer fabulous opportunities for the recipients to further their knowledge and understanding of the wine growing region they visit.

Hospitality employers are urged to encourage their staff to enter and support the future and education of the industry.

The awards on offer this year include:

* The Matthew Clark and California Wines Travel Award 2008 where the winner will receive a fantastic trip to visit some of the regions wonderful wineries in 2009.

* The Wines of Germany Travel Award 2008 will take the winner in April 2009 to visit Mainzer, Weinbeorse, the prestigious annual German wine fair which is organised by BDP - a body representing some of Germany's most prominent wineries. The fair will also be the showcase for the 2008 vintage with 150 exhibiting wineries. It will be followed by a short trip around the wineries as one of the local wine growing regions.

* The New Zealand Wine Travel Bursary 2008 which is provided courtesy of the New Zealand winegrowers, the winner will receive a fantastic 10 day education trip to this stunning country, visiting a selection of vineyards in the regions of Auckland, Hawkes Bay, Martinborough, Marlborough and Central Otago.

The winners will be announced in September and presented with their prize at the Academy's annual awards ceremony which takes place at Vintners' Hall on Monday, September 8th.
