Fine wines and fun in Saxony
flying saucer is transforming the making of wines at Schloss Wackerbath in Saxony into a visitor experience for Sächsische Staatsweingut GmbH.
Since September, visitors have been able to walk around the redeveloped chateau, park grounds and transparent wine factory to explore the history of the Schloss, while gaining an insight into life as a wine grower and cellar person.
Every year, around 180,000 people visit the state-owned wine estate, which is sited near Radebeul. The hosts offer their guests a variety of tours.
In addition to providing advice, Berlin-based attraction design company flying saucer was entrusted with conceiving and planning the site's technical infrastructure, as well as producing the media installations that support the tours. It installed a vast number of LED elements in the production plant to turn the subject of bottling into an illuminating experience.
Visitors can also take an historical tour of the chateau. Again, the lavish use of different media makes this a hands-on experience. A particular challenge facing flying saucer on this project was the need to satisfy the strict requirements of a preservation order while installing the projectors to provide the right ambience within the rooms.
