Fire at Blackpool Pleasure Beach
A fire broke out on Blackpool Pleasure Beach (BPB) last night, damaging the Grand National wooden rollercoaster. Two other rides – Alice in Wonderland and Trauma Towers were also affected by the blaze.
The majority of the fire damage occurred to the Grand National station. A small part of the Grand National track was also affected along with carriages on adjacent rides.
The park was closed to the public at the time of the blaze. Fire crews attended the scene immediately and swiftly contained the fire.
BPB is open for business as usual today, from 1pm, but a full investigation will take place into the cause of the fire.
A spokesperson for BLB said: “The fire brigade acted very swiftly and got the fire under control. The Grand National is one of our famous wooden coasters and is a firm favourite with our visitors. We hope to have the ride up and running soon and the station returned to its former glory as quickly as possible.” Details: www.bpbltd.com
