Fire cancels Prom at Albert Hall
A performance of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony and works by Matthias Pintscher at the Royal Albert Hall as part of the BBC Proms series was cancelled after a fire broke out at the historic venue yesterday (3 September).
The fire broke out in the artists’ bar in the basement of the building, causing a loss of electrical power.
The London Fire Brigade was called to the incident at around 3pm, but no one was injured and the Philadelphia Orchestra’s performance of the fifth symphonies of Beethoven and Tchaikovsky should go ahead tonight as scheduled.
All ticket holders for Sunday’s performance will receive a full refund. Details: www.bbc.co.uk/proms
