Fire damaged Uluru hotel to reopen in July
Longitude 131, the safari camp hotel in Australia’s Northern Territory, will reopen on 1 July 2004 following a fire in October which destroyed almost all of its 15 luxury tents and did A$4m worth of damage.
The site of the hotel, near the border of the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, will remain the same and the owners will also be trying to replace many of the artefacts lost in the fire.
The 6-star camp had only been open since 2002.
Guests with bookings between16 November and 31 December have been relocated to either the nearby Ayers Rock Resort or five-star Sails in the Desert Hotel.
Local police and fire personnel have said there appeared to be nothing suspicious about the fire.
