First Armani hotel in Dubai
Fashion designer Giorgio Armani and Dubai-based EMAAR Hotels and Resorts have announced the first of their joint venture Armani Hotels will open in 2008 at the Burj Dubai tower – claimed to be the world’s tallest residential and commercial building.
The 40,000sq m (431,000sq ft) Dubai Armani Hotel – designed by Armani and funded by EMAAR – will feature 175 rooms and suites, restaurants and a spa. Alongside it, the Burj Dubai will offer 160 residential apartments, also styled by Armani.
Last February, Armani and EMAAR agreed a US$1bn (£550m, n813m) deal to develop at least seven luxury hotels and three vacation resorts within the next 10 years. Further hotels are expected to open in Milan, London and New York. Details: www.emaar.com
