Jurlique has opened its first resort spa at the Mayfair Hotel & Spa in Coconut Grove, Florida.

The new 4,300sq ft (400sq m) spa is being marketed as an organic, nature-based spa experience and facilities include seven treatment rooms – including a double room – a hydrotub, vichy water massage room and manicure and pedicure stations.

Treatments at the spa will include a range of massages and signature treatments include the Citrus Salt Glow – which uses Australian sea salts and lime oil for exfoliation –and the Foot Fetish pedicure.

Monique Michaud, spa director, said: “We provide aromatherapy with all massages. “It is part of the natural and relaxing environment we have created at the Jurlique Spa at the Mayfair.”

The opening of the spa is part of the US$10m (8.2m euros, £5.7m) renovation programme at the Florida hotel.

Other additions to the hotel’s facilities include a rooftop swimming pool – due to open in July 2006 – and the Ginger Grove restaurant offering a blend of Asian-themed dishes.

The 179-room Mayfair Hotel and Spa is owned and operated by San Francisco-based Kimpton Hotels and restaurants and is the group’s first property in Florida.

Kimpton was founded by Bill Kimpton in 1981and currently operates 39 boutique hotels throughout the US.
