First development opens on The Palm
The Atlantis resort and spa on The Palm Jumeirah in Dubai, UAE, has opened.
The first, and flagship, development on the artificial island, Atlantis covers 46 hectares (114 acres).
Facilities include a spa, a marine habitat, fresh- and salt-water swimming pools, a beach and restaurants, including chef Nobuyuki Matsuhisa’s Nobu.
The spa was co-created with consultancy group Raison d’Etre and will be located in the Royal Towers. The two-storey, 20,451sq ft (1,900sq m) spa has interior walls that appear to be made of water.
The luxury spa includes 27 treatment rooms, a sauna and a relaxation room. Skincare brands are Daniele de Winter and Naturopathica.
Located at the top of the crescent of The Palm Jumeirah, Atlantis has been created by developer and casino resorts and luxury hotels operator Kerzner International Holdings.
The property can be accessed either by a monorail or via a six-lane underwater vehicle tunnel, which surfaces next to the resort. (See Spa Business news 08/04. To order, visit spabusiness.com)
