The world's first indoor Angry Birds-themed activity park will open to the public in December, at the Vuokatti ski resort in Sotkamo, Finland.

Based on the popular mobile game, the Angry Birds Land includes a number of themed rides and a large play area, and encourages visitors to exercise and play.

The activity park will be constructed within the 8,700sq m (sq ft 93,600) Incap industrial estate and will form part of the Vuokatti Superpark.

Finnish resort opperator, Holiday Club Resorts (HCR), is investing 75m euro (£60.6m US$97.2) in the activity park. HCR runs and manages the nearby Vuokatti Katinkulta resort.

In addition to the Angry Birds-themed section, the year-round indoor park will include a diverse sports world, where visitors can try out different sports, and a freestyle area, suitable for skateboarding and BMX biking.

The activity park is being constructed by Rovaniemi-based Lappset Group Oy, one of the leading manufacturers of exercise and playground equipment.

Chair of the Board of Vuokatti SuperPark, Juha Tanskanen, said: "It will reinforce the position of Vuokatti as an attractive and versatile resort, on both the domestic and international tourism markets. At the moment, this is the only Angry Birds indoor activity park of equivalent scale and concept in the world, which makes Vuokatti a unique resort."

Vuokatti park is the first of four Angry Bird parks to be funded by HCR in Finland.

The group has plans to open a further three activity parks across its estate of spa hotels.

By Christmas, Kuusamon Tropiiki will have its first Angry Birds activity park, followed by Saariselkä in February and Lappeenranta in autumn 2013.
