First traditional Emirati five-star hotel to debut in the Heart of Sharjah

Work is set to commence on the luxury five star Al Bait hotel, which forms part of the Heart of Sharjah project - the largest tourism and heritage project in the region and aims to revive Sharjah’s heritage.

The new project, which is expected to be complete in December 2014, is a joint venture between the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) and General Hotel Management Ltd. (GHM).

Designed by UAE-based architects GAJ, the hotel is set to be mix of traditional and contemporary styles to create an authentic Emirati hotel.

Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chair of Shurooq said that the Heart of Sharjah is being developed to act as the “beating heart” of the Emirate.

“Al Bait hotel will be a showpiece representing what Sharjah is truly about – an emirate that offers its visitors a unique opportunity to experience true Arabian hospitality and traditional heritage in luxury and comfort.”

Sprawling 10,000sq m (108,000sq ft), the AED 100m (UD$27m, €21m, £18m) Al Bait hotel will comprise 54 guestrooms including standard, deluxe, junior suites and suites.

It will also house a spa and health club and details on the facility are to be announced in the coming months.

A range of food and beverage options will be available such as a traditional Arabic restaurant and an authentic tea and coffee house.

The Heart of Sharjah project, when completed in 2025, will feature diverse commercial, cultural and residential projects, including restaurants, retail shops, art galleries, traditional and contemporary markets, archaeological sites, museums, play areas and commercial offices.
