Fishersgate set for new outdoor games area
Adur District Council (ADC) has announced plans to establish a new outdoor, multi-use games facility in Fishersgate, Sussex, on the site The Dome community centre, which was damaged by an arson attack.
The council has now agreed to fund the all-weather facility, which may also include a youth shelter at a later stage, although the project depends on whether ADC can secure the site's lease from Fishersgate Community Association (FCA). A new Healthy Living Centre and Children and Family Centre will also be established under council plans, which will be fully funded by ADC along with West Sussex County Council and the local primary care trust.
Neil Parkin, ADC leader, said: "Now that the Children and Family Centre is proceeding, the addition of the young people's multi-use games area represents a long-awaited boost to the facilities in the Fishersgate area."
