Fitness First has spent £1.9m on a major renovation of its Cottons London Bridge club as part of its ongoing its £270m (US$408m, €346m) global transformation programme.

The prime central London property is the latest site to be given a refurb and has also grown in size from 2,590sq m (27,879sq ft) to 3,023sq m (32,539sq ft).

The revamped offering includes the launch of Move, a group exercise studio experience which Fitness First says provides a motivational and energising environment that “challenges the fitness norm.” The studio features interactive and immersive technology in the form of a LED mood wall, giant screen, ‘live feed’ class cameras and team-teach stage concepts. Members can enjoy both taught classes and five virtual classes – Les Mills Bodypump, Body Balance, CX Worx, Body Combat and Sh’bam.

Elsewhere, the club boasts an eye-catching athletics area with the ability to film training sessions so members can hone their speed, power and agility through a new sprint track, hurdles and sledges.

The main gym area contains the latest Life Fitness treadmills and bikes, as well as Wattbikes, Water Rowers, Stairclimbers and FlexStrider treadmills. There is also a Mind and Body studio featuring Hot Yoga, Pilates and several other classes.

“Our newly renovated gym is technologically advanced, incorporating mirrored touch screens and interactive video playbacks, aiming to give gym-goers all the tools they need to meet their fitness goals,” said Fitness First property director Harry Kay.

“The latest refurbishment is our most environmentally efficient yet and demonstrates our continued commitment to providing the best health, sports and leisure facilities for all fitness abilities.”
