Fitness boost for Gwynedd leisure centres
Five leisure centres across Gwynedd, North Wales, have benefited from the installation of new fitness machines following a £160,000 investment by the local authority.
Around 28 Technogym cv and resistance machines have been provided by Gwynedd Council at both Glaslyn Leisure Centre, Porthmadog, and Dwyfor Leisure Centre in Pwllheli as part of the scheme. Meanwhile, Plas Silyn Leisure Centre in Penygroes; Plas Ffrancon Leisure Centre, Bethesda; and Glan Wnion Leisure Centre, Dolgellau; now feature around 18-20 new machines.
Gwynedd Council leader Dyfed Edwards said: "Despite difficult financial context, investing in state-of-the-art equipment means that local people will be able to access this excellent service at a reasonable cost." Roy Owen, the council's lead member for leisure, added: "With the addition of these new and modern fitness machines in leisure centres across Gwynedd, we're confident that our facilities will encourage even more residents to step out and keep fit."
