Flex Card reaches out to 50,000
To mark the 40th anniversary of the town and the creation last year of the new Borough of Telford & Wrekin, the council is offering free Flex Cards to people aged 17 and under, plus anyone entitled to concessions.
Flex Cards, which have been in existence since September 1997, offer discounts on a range of activities at the borough's leisure centres.
There are currently 19,800 Flex Card holders, with 50,000 more set to benefit now.
Councilor Rob Sloan, cabinet member for leisure, culture and equalities, said: 'We want to ensure as many people as possible can access our sports and leisure facilities and take advantage of the huge range of opportunities on offer.
'The free Flex Cards will open doors for people who might not otherwise be able to afford to take part and help youngsters develop healthy habits from an early age.'
