Flintshire leisure centre to be refurbished
Plans are being drawn up for the refurbishment of Deeside Leisure Centre in Flintshire.
Local newspaper The Leader reported that though 12 developers applied for the contract, Flintshire Council has narrowed it down to two prospective firms.
The paper quoted Dennis Hutchinson, executive member for leisure, as saying: “I can’t say who [the firms] are but I can say that they are experts in leisure facilities and come highly regarded. We feel we have the best in the industry.”
Ian Budd, director of lifelong learning, said: “We are renewing the facility to make sure it’s a really great environment.
“We recognise that it’s a major facility for Flintshire and the entire region. It is good news that the centre is facing this procurement exercise.”
There will be talks with the two interested parties later this month.
